The Attention-Deficit Manager

Leading a highly focused organization from a cluttered mind

An Introduction

And so it begins… It seems appropriate to make some kind of mission statement in the first post. What will this blog be about? Why would anyone want to read it?

As stated in the ‘about‘ page, I’m a somewhat effective manager. I also have a pretty fierce case of AD/HD. I’ll never be a  GTD master, but I can accomplish some things they would never think of in their peculiar state of OCD. If I know anything, it’s that it takes everything I’ve got to stay on task and organized. The challenges within myself have been numerous and daunting. But with the right tools, know-how, and attitude, I’ve been able to build some success.

I have a desire to share this knowledge. I want to instill, with other people that struggle with this conditon in the business world, a sense of courage, hope, and tenacity to make it work.

But first, a couple of declarations:

This blog will always be positive. I know AD/HD can be a struggle, but there will be no “woe-is-me” rants. That won’t help anyone. This will always focus on overcoming the obstacles, not about the obstacles themselves.

The suggestions could help anyone. The hi-tech gadgets, attitudes, and jedi mind-tricks stated therein should be of benefit to anyone in business, not just the scatterbrained supervisor. Don’t dismiss the ideas just because you’re “normal.” Many people could stand a little help with organization.

Please comment! It would help me immeasurably to keep up with this venture if I knew some of you were reading it, let alone benefiting from it. You are my motivation, purpose and external structure. Help me help others!

If I can remember to do it, that is…. ;)
